I was an Active and Fit customer for a few years. I used to love it, but they changed how the program works in August of '24. You used to be able to work out at multiple gyms which was perfect for travelers or someone that likes working out at different gyms for whatever reason(s). Now they charge additional fees for adding gyms, their website has bugs, it's hard to navigate and trying to call them you WILL NOT GET A PERSON it's an automated voice that really doesn't answer your questions! All these folks that wrote negative reviews aren't lying. This company got away with one of the biggest bait and switch scams that I have ever seen in my opinion. They didn't even have the decency or courtesy for it's members to be grand fathered in to avoid these additional fees which it's quite hefty and in fact $20 to add a gym and that it's monthly by the way. I am not not sure if they were losing money or got greedy but not unless their plan is cheaper then your gym ITS SIMPLY NOT WORTH IT. That's about as an honest review that I can write.

Awful customer service

They allowed me to sign up for a gym that does not accept Active & Fit members and then refused to refund me after spending over an hour on the phone with them total (most of which was on hold). The supervisor I spoke to was very rude and unhelpful. Her suggestion was that I could sign up with another gym in their network with the next closest one that participates being 30+ minutes away from me. It was an incredibly frustrating experience.

Terrible experience overall

Too many websites that don't help you make sure you have the right one for the account. Terrible customer service, the representatives don't listen to what you have to say. The website said, "The information you have provided does not match our records" but charged me for a year for an account I couldn't access because of there isn't a record of my information to recover an account.

A headache to deal with

There is a trend these days where customer service agents use the Terms & Conditions as a reason to treat customers in a derogatory manner. This company is one of those companies. Their Terms & Conditions is unfair to begin with. At this point, we all ought to have our own home gym station because it’s very hard to find a gym with ethical business practices.

The worst most fraudulent company NEVER sign up with this, they LIE they switch you to cheaper gyms and cancel memberships with no notice or authorization. A complete sham, NEVER use them.

Join at your own risk. easy to get in almost impossible to get out!

After shifting gym membership to health care insurance provider June 1, it was insultingly impossible to reach to cancel by phone. 6 calls in June and July with wait times of 20 to 30 minutes before I hung up. Finally got through today, and was told by a arrogant and brassy CS agent that "we are easy to leave". They excel at complicating cancellation to show revenue were it was not earned.

Remedy coming from a bank card claim. Don't roll over for this company.

Unbelievable cancellation practice. I cancelled the gym I had their membership through, after I emailed them asking to cancel. Then they proceeded to charge me and keep my account active. This company is unethical.

This company is a scam

This company is a scam, they billed me twice per month for the same member ship and refused to refund me after acknowledging this should have never happened. Support is non existent. Run away as fast as you can.

Serious Concerns Regarding Recent Program Changes

I am writing to express my complete dissatisfaction with the recent changes to your program. The one key advantage that set your program apart has been removed, leaving us with a service that is far less valuable. Frankly, working directly with the gym is now a much more cost-effective option.

It’s clear that these changes have taken advantage of your customers, and as someone who oversees the Florida Blue insurance selection for our company, I find this approach deeply concerning. I will be notifying others about the misleading nature of your program.

This situation is disappointing, and I urge you to reconsider these changes in the interest of maintaining the trust and satisfaction of your customers.

Zero stars if I could!

I would give them zero stars if I could! Absolutely horrible company to use. I registered with them because in the beginning you were able to use multiple gyms. However, they changed this a few months ago. I called many times to cancel my membership and was hung up on. I emailed them to cancel the membership and they responded a month after. On top of that, they charge you two months ahead of time when you first sign up for membership. I asked for a refund and again after one month of not hearing from them I had to follow up with them via email since I couldn’t get a hold of them on the phone and they denied my refund. Horrible customer service and they charge you for unfair charges

MEMBERSHIP NOT WORTH IT!!

The whole point of this program before I joined was to have access to standard gyms at one price per month, now its $28 for one standard gym and if you want to go to other standard gyms, its an additional $23 on top of $28. Crazy right!! No point of having a membership with active and fit anymore. Just give your money directly to the gyms instead.

Do not give this company your money

Do not give this company your money. If your employer contracts with this company, urge them to stop and to use another vendor.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Hold times are an hour plus to speak to someone. They made a change to only allow one gym now instead of many. They charge you in advance and it’s impossible to cancel.

This comapny will be out of business within a year, no doubt.

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. These people literally do not listen and just parrot whatever talking points they most recently have. I was trying to update my name in the gym's system but it was only editable on AFD's side, but their rep instead offered to switch my gym, which I never asked for. When I pushed, they basically said it was impossible and they didn't seem to care.

Not worth the headache

I havebeen using this program since Oct of last year an it was great at the start. I had three gym memberships for $28 per month. It was very convenient. They recently changed their rules so that you can only have 1 membership for the monthly rate and any additional gyms you get a $5 discount on the monthly fee. They advertise a well-being coach but after trying to call, email, and chat I have not been able to schedule a session. The customer service is really unhelpful and I have been on hold now for 20+ mins hoping to speak to someone. I'll be cancelling my membership.

$$ A&F Getting in on the Inflation $$

Similar to all of these fast food corporations, and under Brandonomics, Active & Fit is now getting in on the price gouging. Now wanting $23 PER GYM more ON TOP of the $28 plus tax for the Health Partners partnership. Isn’t it supposed to be an incentive for us to be going to gyms of our choice to stay healthy? I’ll be done with Active & Fit after this final month of June before they start ripping people off in our inflation economy. VOTE smart this November and let’s get back to not being poor.

Greedy

The whole point of having active & fit was to have multiple memberships for one low price, now I only get $5 off each additional membership I want?

I looked at Aadaptiv through BC/BS, and it's $39.95 for the standard memberships. If Aadptiv wants to pick up business, they should offer for us to hop to them!

I feel like this is going to destroy their customer base and everyone is just going to cancel and get a basic membership right through their main gym. For example, my main gym is crunch fitness, I can get their basic membership for $10 a month and a $50 annual fee.

Obviously if you really want to go to multiple different gyms this isn't going to work, but say you want to go to crunch, planet fitness and maybe a local gym that was on the plan. You're now paying $28 for crunch, $19.99 for planet fitness ($24.99 - $5) and maybe $20 for a local gym, totaling $67.99 a month. That's an insane increase.

Pretty great. Needs to build an app to be more user friendly

I get active and fit direct through usaa. It's getting 4 stars because they don't have an easy way to access your account. You basically have to call them for the information. However, you do get access to a ton of gyms. I'm military so I move and travel all over the place, so it's great to get access to gyms all over the place, even remote towns. It also makes going to the gyms more fun because it's like a fresh experience everytime. Also you get to find which gyms you like best for when your in the area the next time.

Management does not get back to you, I had to call 5 times. Rude customer service

Highly unsatisfactory experience with their customer service department. Despite making five attempts to resolve issues with my account, I received no follow-up via phone or email. The company claimed the matter had been escalated to management, yet there was no accountability in their communications, the interactions were unprofessional and ZERO response.

I spoke with Manager Stephanie today, who was notably unhelpful, indifferent, and appeared distracted during our conversation. It is evident that there is a lack of proper staff training, and despite providing a doctor's note and relevant documentation, there was no willingness to accommodate or address my concerns or to further improve their customer service department.

Even if the cost savings seem appealing, I would strongly advise against using this company as their customer service is severely lacking and unfortunately extremely difficult to work with, starting with the management staff.

No customer service

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. The bot was unable to help and ended our calls and conversation. I was on hold for two hours when their work day ended last week (7/5). The mission continues this week (7/8). On hold for 33 mins and counting.
